3ax is the world's first clipless pedal that gives your feet the freedom to tilt sideways. It allows your legs to follow a more natural, fluid motion with every stroke and point. It's a small change that makes a huge difference:
Development of new bicycle pedal
When cycling, most people tend to tilt their foot in or out. The introduction of a small rocking motion in this new type of pedal allows the foot and lower leg to move in a more natural way. This pedal can ensure that people with knee problems can cycle and train earlier without pain.
Prior to final agreement with the customer, studies and tests have taken place to demonstrate that the principle works. Various prototypes have also been developed by the customer, but reproducibility, industrialization and branding are not included.
From idea till realization
TSG Group has proposed a new design and re-branding within the high-end sports market. The design, branding, engineering and strength simulations were carried out by TSG Group and prototypes were assembled and subjected to a built-up endurance test in our own proto & pilot shop.
After the optimization, a start was made on setting up the supply chain, starting the tooling phase and industrialization at a local sheltered employment facility. In addition to the product design and engineering, the packaging was also designed and photo-realistic visualizations and animations were made.
