ANTENNEX

Development of a more efficient measurement and
characterization methodology for antennas.

ANTENNEX is a startup that emerged in 2023 at Eindhoven University of Technology from the Electrical Engineering faculty.

ANTENNEX develops measurement instrumentation to measure next-generation integrated antenna systems for applications such as 5G, 6G, automotive radar, and sensing.

Their 'wireless connector' allows measurements that were once performed with a physical connection (e.g. a cable or RF probe) to now be performed over the air.

The product they offer is a more efficient measurement and characterization methodology for antennas or antenna-containing products, which takes place using a so-called 'reverberation chamber'.

In current methods, expensive anechoic chambers are used where waves are absorbed, whereas in a reverberation chamber, the focus is on maximizing reflections.

By emitting a spectrum of signals into the reverberation chamber, a reproducible 'chaos' can be created, so to speak. When this is measured and characterized, and then a DUT or 'device under test' is added, the characteristics of the antenna (or device) can be determined using advanced software and algorithms. In practice, this simplified description is of course much more complex.

In addition to software and an advanced spectrum generator, a device with a physical measurement chamber and a well-sealing door is required, which acts as a Faraday cage over the entire high-frequency range.

When the collaboration between ANTENNEX and TSG Group began, a tight deadline was set for the delivery of a functional demonstrator due to a conference in the USA where market introduction was taking place.

By closely collaborating in co-design, co-engineering, and project management from TSG Group, we helped the customer achieve their goal. We also assisted in shaping and establishing the supply chain.
