Life Sciences & Health
TSG Group is active in the Life Sciences & Health market, which includes MedTech, Pharma, and BioTech. Some projects and activities include:
INTERVENTION
- Conducting a technical/economic feasibility study for a minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical instrument.
- Industrial & UX Design, usability study, product engineering, materialization, prototyping - Proof-of-Concept, industrialization of a wound treatment device based on cold plasma.
- Developing a production technique for a multi-lumen heart catheter with the aim of creating patentable intellectual property for the client.
- Conceptualization, demonstrator development, and Proof-of-Concept of a miniature chainsaw for use during a procedure for the revision of cemented hip prostheses.
DIAGNOSTICS
- Conceptualizing a method for diagnosing atherosclerosis (arterial calcification). This project resulted in a working prototype of a millifluidic device with a well-plate footprint, where cell-cell interactions of endothelial cells and monocytes can be dynamically studied via imaging.
PARAMEDICAL
- An inventor had designed a bicycle pedal with an extra degree of freedom for his father who suffered from knee problems. However, the concept was not easy to produce at acceptable costs and was not aesthetically pleasing. Moreover, an insurance company would not reimburse it, so there was no business model. TSG proposed targeting the sports market instead. We created an attractive and manufacturable design and, after crowdfunding by the startup, set up industrialization with pilot production.
- A client wanted a robust and reliable 3D printer for 24/7 additive manufacturing of orthopedic insoles. TSG handled the industrial design and hardware engineering, including 10 functional machines for a pilot project with selected podiatrists.
DIGITALIZATION
- For a municipality in The Netherlands with 250,000 inhabitants, we developed and implemented a digital online platform for the execution of the Social Support Act (Dutch: Wet Maatschappelijke Ondersteuning or WMO). This platform handles financial transactions with consideration for privacy and cybersecurity. This web application ensures a safer, faster, and error-free execution of the WMO with less effort.
- Minimally invasive procedures require a lot of skill and training. For a software-driven training and monitoring device that allows specialists and residents to train their skills, TSG created an industrial design for the device in the form of an easy-to-carry trolley. The software data on movements, time, and effectiveness is used to measure and track skills for the portfolio.
RESHORING
For a multinational, we are automating semi-manual production processes to enable them to bring production back from Asia to Europe. In addition to 24/7 production, this step allows the client to reduce the CO2 footprint of the products through new techniques, higher efficiency and improved quality with lower costs.
JOINED FORCES
At TSG, we leverage internal knowledge, experience, and capabilities in design & UX, product development, machine building, software development, and industrialization.
Other markets we serve besides Life Sciences & Health, such as HighTech, Food, and Sport & Mobility, provide both us and you as a client with an advantage to devise and realize smart solutions for issues that have a link with other markets or lead to a crossover solution and benefits.
